Listed below are several provincial and regional funding programs to support marketing or experience development initiatives. Northumberland Tourism can assist you to identify which program is applicable for your project.

 Celebrate Ontario Program

Interested in festival promotion? 

Celebrate Ontario supports programming improvements at new and existing festivals and events that attract tourists for longer stays, create great experiences for visitors and support communities across Ontario.

Tourism Development Fund

Does your business encourage tourism investment, tourism product development or industry capacity building. If so, you may be eligible to get financial assistance with the following:  

  • Consulting services and project management
  • Research costs
  • Tourism sector strategic planning
  • Business plan support, economic assessments and feasibility studies
  • Organizational development and capacity building
  • Conference organization costs including speaker fees
  • Project-related permits, fees and other similar charges
  • Other costs deemed reasonable

Kawarthas Northumberland Partnership Allocation Program

Do you have a project for your tourism-based business that will help make the “Kawarthas Northumberland” region a premier travel destination? 

Partnership Allocation Program supports projects in Northumberland County with various, multiple partners. 

What kinds of projects?

Project areas in the 2019-20 year:

• Experience Development/Enhancement
• Photography/Videography
• Workforce Development & Training

Projects need to align with one of the following areas:

• Culinary
• Cycling
• Trails
• Boating
• Trent-Severn Waterway
• Indigenous Traditions/Experiences
• Paddling
• Arts & Culture
• Fishing 

What is the funding?

Through the Regional Tourism (RTO) program the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport (MTCS) offers funding for qualified regional tourism businesses and attractions. 

Funding of up to 50% is available for projects that have a cost of $5,000 or more, align with Kawartha Northumberland’s (or RTO8’s) business objectives, and can be measured and reported.
