Young Parents

Learning, Earning and Parenting (LEAP) is an Ontario Works program to help parents get their high school diploma, job skills and learn more about parenting.

Are you eligible for LEAP?

To be eligible for LEAP, you must be:

  • A parent who is 25 years or younger
  • Receiving Ontario Works
  • Not finished high school
  • Attending school to get a high school diploma

To apply for the LEAP program, contact your Caseworker. LEAP is a required program for parents who are receiving Ontario Works and are 17 years of age or younger.

LEAP helps with:

  • Child care costs
  • Co-op programs, volunteer work, part-time and/or summer work
  • Attending parenting workshops and/or support groups
  • School supplies, clothes, class trips, travel costs to and from school and items for work
  • Counselling

You will receive a $500 bursary for completing LEAP.
