Abundant opportunities for Early Childhood Educators in Northumberland

Cobourg, ON – November 24, 2022 – Faced with an industry-wide shortage of licensed Early Childhood Educators (ECE), Northumberland County is introducing new online resources to encourage those who may be considering a career as an ECE to look at opportunities in Northumberland.

In collaboration with service providers throughout the community, the County’s Early Years Services team has produced a series of resources to help increase awareness of the different career options for ECEs and the value of they deliver in our community. This includes information about Northumberland, job-related videos, and a central job posting board for local ECE jobs.

Northumberland has abundant opportunity for rewarding careers in the Early Years sector. Individuals can work directly with children and families or can help develop and deliver programs and services from an office-setting, with the potential to positively impact the lives of children, their families and the broader community.

Videos produced for this effort capture this variety of opportunity, featuring interviews with ECEs sharing personal stories and experiences of working for various service providers throughout Northumberland County. The videos provide a glimpse into the day-to-day roles of ECEs and share perspectives on the value of this important work. The videos are now available on the County’s website, social media and YouTube channel.
