Cobourg Rotary Club donates $10,000 to ParaSport Games

COBOURG (May 20)- The Cobourg Rotary Club has made a significant donation of $10,000 to the forthcoming Ontario ParaSport Games in Northumberland County.

"We're enormously grateful to the Rotarians for stepping up to help make the Games a success," said Games Chair Paul Macklin as he accepted the contribution from Rotary President Rob O'Neil.

The donation makes Cobourg Rotary the official sponsor of gold, silver and bronze medals to be awarded in eight medal sports at the Games, set for May 30 to June 1.

"The Cobourg Rotary Club recognizes the positive impact hosting these Games will have on our county," said O'Neil. "We want to play a part in creating a great experience for the para-athletes."

"As a Rotarian myself, I know how hard Rotarians work in the community to be able to support important initiatives such as this. We deeply appreciate Rotary's leadership involvement in helping us to raise the bar - together - and host a successful Games weekend," said Macklin.

The medals, featuring three upward shooting arrows in blue, green and white, are the work of Colborne designer Mike Bahm. He submitted the winning entry in a competition judged by Northumberland artists Barb Winfield, Jan Hoselton and David Doig.
