Design Moves Ahead on New Bridge in Campbellford

In June 2017, a major milestone was reached for the new bridge in Campbellford when the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks approved the Environmental Assessment. The County has now hired an engineering company, GHD, to complete necessary site investigations and detailed design for the new bridge.

The new bridge across the Trent River will connect Second Street and Alma Street. In addition to completing the design for the new bridge, the County and GHD will identify and design improvements to the road network connecting to the future bridge.

Site Investigations

Over the next two years, engineers and scientists from GHD and other firms will conduct extensive investigations within the Trent River and the road network connecting to the future bridge. These may include site walks, ecological surveys, and subsurface investigations within the Trent River. Northumberland County will contact property owners if access to private property is required for these investigations.

Stay Informed and Get Involved

There will be several opportunities to get involved, including two Public Information Centres (PICs) to ask questions to the project team and provide feedback on the design of the future bridge. A dedicated project website, www.CampbellfordBridge.ca, is coming soon where updates on the project will be posted.
