Northumberland Paramedics plan activities recognizing Paramedic Services Week

Cobourg, ON – May 20, 2014 – Northumberland Paramedics have planned a series of activities in celebration of Paramedic Services Week, which takes place across Canada May 25 to 31, 2014. This week recognizes the dedication and commitment of front-line paramedic personnel to providing vital care and support to members of the community. Representatives of the media are invited to attend the following events, where announcements and photo opportunities will be arranged.

  1. Northumberland Paramedics Annual Appreciation Barbecue(closed event)

    Location: 600 William Street, Cobourg
    Date and time: Saturday, May 24, 12:00—4:00 p.m.
    Details: Meet with the paramedics that provide vital services to our community.

  2. Northumberland Paramedics donates life-saving defibrillator pads to two local organizations (closed event)

    600 William Street, Cobourg
    Date and time: Monday, May 26, 11:00 a.m.
    Details: Members of the media are invited to this event, where Northumberland Paramedics will present a set of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) to representatives from the Ganaraska Trail Public School, as well as the Presquille Yaught Club. AEDs provide life-saving assistance to people experiencing sudden heart problems, until paramedics arrive on-scene.

  3. Charity Bike-a-thon and helmet safety initiative announcement

    Canadian Tire, 1125 Elgin Street West, Cobourg
    Date and time: Tuesday, May 27, 2:00 p.m.
    Details: Paramedics will be at Canadian Tire, Cobourg, for the afternoon on May 27, rotating shifts on two stationary bikes to raise funds for their participation in this year’s Heart and Stroke Ride for Heart. A representative will make an announcement at 2:00 regarding the launch of a summer ‘Helmet Safety Initiative’, where paramedics will reward children seen wearing bicycle helmets with a free pass to local fitness facilities.

  4. Northumberland Paramedics Ride for Heart Event at Casey's Cobourg

    Casey’s Restaurant, 1 Strathy Road, Cobourg
    Date and time: Tuesday, May 27, 6:30 p.m.
    Details: Paramedics invite Northumberland County residents to support local heart health by dining at Casey’s Restaurant in Cobourg, on May 27th, starting at 6:30 p.m. A portion of funds raised will be donated to the paramedics’ participa-tion in this year’s Heart and Stroke Ride for Heart. For every $1500 raised, Zoll Medical will provide Northumberland Paramedics with one Automated External De-fibrillator (AED) for donation to a local organization.
