Paramedic Therapy Dog Calendar warms hearts and bellies by raising money for community meals

Cobourg, ON – October 15, 2024 – Northumberland Paramedics are launching a heartwarming fundraiser to provide holiday meals for community members in need, by selling 2025 calendars starring their therapy dog, Ivy Joules.

This initiative aims to spread smiles, laughter, and raise money for a good cause. The 12-month photo calendar, available for $15 + HST, showcases Ivy’s big heart and huge personality. Her name, Ivy Joules, reflects vital treatments used in emergency care — ‘Ivy’ refers to ‘IV’s used for intravenous therapy and ‘Joules’ refers to the unit of power used to shock a heart using a defibrillator.

Ivy is more than just a therapy dog; she’s a beacon of comfort for the Northumberland Paramedics team and the broader community. In her role, Ivy:

  • Provides support to Northumberland Paramedics, especially after challenging 9-1-1 calls
  • Visits Community Paramedicine clients during home care visits
  • Visits other community organizations to lift spirits and enhance care
  • Participates in local events and activities
  • Supports County staff from other departments and frontline services

“Ivy has given our team so much joy over the past year – with this calendar, we want to share her warmth and positivity with the community and help spread some holiday cheer,” states Northumberland Paramedic Chief Susan Brown. “With orders arriving in December, this calendar would be a thoughtful holiday gift for a dog-lover, or a cherished addition to your own home or office. Either way, it is sure to spread smiles and helps contribute to a meaningful cause.”

All proceeds will go towards purchasing holiday meals for vulnerable community members who may be spending the holidays at home, alone, or in need of food support.

Pre-order your calendar by November 15th by visiting Northumberland.ca/IvyCalendar. Orders will be available for pick-up at the Northumberland County Office (555 Courthouse Road, Cobourg) from December 2 to 20, 2024.
