Students can launch their own business this summer with micro grants and business support from BECN

Cobourg, ON – February 7, 2024 – High school and post-secondary students interested in starting a business are invited to apply for the Business and Entrepreneurship Centre Northumberland (BECN) Summer Company Program. This free youth entrepreneurship program offers business support and micro grants to students, ages 15 to 29, who are interested in launching a new business over the summer break.

Students in the program will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience planning, launching and operating a small business. Applicants must submit a detailed business plan outlining their business idea, marketing plan, operating requirements, start-up costs and risk assessment. Successful applicants will receive free business skill development resources, training, advice, mentorship and a micro grant of up to $3,000 to help them achieve their business goals.

The Summer Company Program is one of the many free programs offered by the BECN – Northumberland’s leading source for small business support. The BECN strives to connect entrepreneurs with information, strategy, resources, education, and networking and micro grant opportunities to help business owners succeed.
