Update on leaf & yard waste collection

Northumberland County is advising residents experiencing delays in curbside collection of leaf and yard waste that collection is ongoing as the County’s contractor deals with high volumes, likely resulting from recent wind storms as well as seasonal clean-up.

Residents are advised to please continue leaving these materials at the curb if they have not yet been collected, as collection will continue until all yard waste has been removed.

“We do apologize for the inconvenience residents may be experiencing with delayed collection, and sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to get everything collected as quickly as possible,” indicates Director of Transportation, Waste & Facilities Mo Pannu. “Crews have been working additional hours and on weekends to deal with the increased volumes, and will continue to work hard to get everything collected from curbside. We encourage residents to continue placing their yard waste out on their designated set-out dates as our teams strive to get back on track, but with the understanding that collection is currently delayed by a full week in comparison to the usual schedule.”

For questions regarding waste and recycling collection, residents are invited to contact the County’s Waste & Recycling Hotline at 1-866-293-8379 or visit our website at Northumberland.ca/RecyclingWaste.
