Partnerships

Management of the County Forest requires knowledge in a variety of management techniques and actions. To carry out these activities using best practices, our Natural Heritage staff must have access to resources such as information-sharing partnerships.

Eastern Ontario Model Forest

We are also a member of the Eastern Ontario Model Forest's Forest Stewardship Council certification group, which meets regularly to discuss forest management options and activities. This certificate includes many municipal forests, conservation authorities and private industry from the eastern border of the province to Norfolk County.
Rice Lake Plains Partnership

The Rice Lake Plains Partnership (RLPP) is an ongoing partnership with:

  • Nature Conservancy of Canada
  • Northumberland County
  • Alderville First Nation
  • Ontario Parks
  • Lower Trent Conservation
  • Tallgrass Ontario
  • Willow Beach Field Naturalists
  • Fleming College
  • Lone Pine Trust Northumberland Land Trust
  • Ganaraska Conservation Authority

Together, we work to identify and restore prairie habitat along with other significant ecosystems in the Rice Lake Plains.

Post-secondary institutions

We also work with universities and colleges to accomplish shared objectives. These have included Trent University, University of Guelph, University of Toronto and Fleming College.

We are keen to work with any college or university. If you have a project idea, please contact us.
