Partnerships
Management of the County Forest requires knowledge in a variety of management techniques and actions. To carry out these activities using best practices, our Forest Services staff must have access to resources such as information-sharing partnerships.
Rice Lake Plains Joint Initiative |
This Rice Lake Plains Joint Initiative is a group of natural heritage conservation organizations that manage natural areas in the area around the County Forest. They meet four times a year to discuss management activities, opportunities for collaboration and new science.

Eastern Ontario Model Forest |
We are also a member of the Eastern Ontario Model Forest's Forest Stewardship Council certification group, which meets regularly to discuss forest management options and activities. This certificate includes many municipal forests, conservation authorities and private industry from the eastern border of the province to Norfolk County. |

The Rice Lake Plains Partnership (RLPP) is an ongoing partnership with:
Together, we work to identify and restore prairie habitat along with other significant ecosystems in the Rice Lake Plains. |
Post-secondary institutions
We also work with universities and colleges to accomplish shared objectives. These have included Trent University, University of Guelph, University of Toronto and Fleming College.
