Waste Management Facilities

Northumberland County has three Community Recycling Centres and one Material Recovery Facility.

Please note: You must be a resident of Northumberland County to use these facilities.

Community Recycling Centres (CRCs)

You may use any Community Recycling Centre (CRC) in Northumberland County to dispose of items such as household garbage, bulky waste items and recyclable materials. The Material Recovery Facility is not a Community Recycling Centre.

Brighton Community Recycling Centre

The CRC in Brighton is also home to the County's only landfill. All household garbage collected curbside comes to this landfill.

Material Recovery Facility

The Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Grafton processes all household recyclables and sells the material to re-manufacturers in North America to make new products. You can also purchase blue boxes and backyard composters at this location.

Please note: You can not drop off material at this location.

Hope Transfer Station

The Hope Transfer Station is for Port Hope rural ward residents only.

9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Wednesday
11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The Hope Transfer Station is closed on the same holidays as CRCs, as well as Easter Monday and Remembrance Day.
