Waste Management Facilities

Northumberland County has three Community Recycling Centres and one Material Recovery Facility.

Please note: You must be a resident of Northumberland County to use these facilities.

During COVID-19,  we strongly encourage residents to only use these sites if absolutely necessary.
Masks are mandatory any time you are outside of your vehicle.
Maintain 2m distance from others.
Debit and Credit Only.

Community Recycling Centres (CRCs)

You may use any Community Recycling Centre (CRC) in Northumberland County to dispose of items such as household garbage, bulky waste items and recyclable materials. The Material Recovery Facility is not a Community Recycling Centre.

Brighton Community Recycling Centre

The CRC in Brighton is also home to the County's only landfill. All household garbage collected curbside comes to this landfill.

*During designated days. Bewdley CRC accepts household hazardous waste on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Brighton CRC accepts household hazardous waste on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Material Recovery Facility

The Material Recovery Facility is currently closed to the public.

The Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Grafton processes all household recyclables and sells the material to re-manufacturers in North America to make new products. You can also purchase blue boxes, green bins and backyard composters at this location.

Hope Transfer Station

The Hope Transfer Station is owned and operated by the Municipality of Port Hope and is for Port Hope rural ward residents only.
